REYNET PRESS RELEASE

PRESS RELEASE

It has come to the knowledge of Restoration Youth Network (REYNET), of attempts being made by some unscrupulous elements who are determined to pull down the present administration of governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State.
This is sequel to Publications and counter reactions on monthly Transparency briefing which took place in Abuja penultimate week, titled “Conversion of N 4,451 from the successive government to billions by the present administration.
The Commissioner of Finance, Mr. PATMORE IYABI who represented the Governor at the briefing gave the accurate figure of what the previous government left in the state curfers, could not have given a fictitious figure to under mind anybody.
The controversy that is presently brewing over the said amount is uncalled for, unfortunate and most unfair because there are teething problems which the present government met on ground and which are being tackled assiduously in various sectors of the state.
The “Pull him down” syndrome.
On assumption of office the present government initiated some proactive policies that are healthy for the growth and development of Bayelsa State.
For instance the dualisation of the ISAAC BORO road is on-going, while construction of the three senatorial roads, which will facilitate commercial activities and promote unity among Bayelsans is being pursued with a more determined zeal.
The Education sector has also received a boost as the government has declared a state of emergency in the sector. There is free education to the Secondary School level, while books and other study materials are also being provided free of charge.
It is on record that over N1 Billion Naira has been approved for scholarship for deserving students to doctorate level into universities across the world.
The transparency initiative of the present government is unprecedented where monies accruing to the state on a monthly basis are made public for Bayelsans to have knowledge of what comes into the curfers.
This is first of its kind in the history of the state and this translates to accountability and good governance.
In the area of Housing, the government is determined to make accommodation affordable for its people; hence 500 housing units will be put in place. Already 180 units are near completion at the Okaka phase one project.
The Agricultural sector has also received priority attention as the present government is poised to de-emphasis the oil economy and encourage an agrarian sector to boost the economy of the state. As a result the rice farm and other agricultural products which the state is endowed with, will be produced in commercial quantities.
The government is equally reviving the tourism sector and has promised to make the state the “Jerusalem” of Nigeria and also make the sector a money spinner.
Efforts are presently being made to ensure that portable water is made available for the teeming population of Bayelsans, at least in the first two years of the government.
Security wise, the state is presently enjoying a level of peace and sanity, with the introduction of Operation “Doo-Akpo” which is maintaining the peace and security, as against operation “Famutangbe” which was used as an intimidating tool of past government to fight their perceived political enemies. Restoration Is Assured!
